Jackson Hole airport uses private screeners as they have a contract with the Transportation Security Administration's Screening Partnership Program; it is one of 16 airports, who uses these programs. History and economic impact

The airport was established in the 1930s as the most convenient place to put an airport in Teton County. The airport was announced a national monument in 1943 and combined with Grand Teton National Park in 1950. The runway was increased to its current length in 1959. In the 1960s and 1970s, a track grew to 8,000 feet (2,400 m) to allow jets were considered; the National Park Servicesuccessfully denied it. The area is noise sensitive, and aircraft are not allowed louder than stage III. Airlines that previously provided Jackson Hole consists of Horizon Air,Western Airlines,Frontier Airlines,Big Sky Airlines, Continental, and Northwest Airlines.
